Why Put a Fuse Inside the Connector?

A fuse connector is a small component, but it decides what happens when a string faults.

Fault clears at the source

When current exceeds the fuse rating, the element interrupts the fault at the string level instead of tripping the combiner box or inverter input.

One component, two jobs

The fuse and the connector share the same body. Fewer parts in the BOM, fewer joints to fail, less space inside the enclosure.

Field-adaptable fuse rating

F4C models accept fuse ratings from 1A to 30A, so the protection level can be matched to the module's maximum series fuse rating.

Outdoor-rated housing

PPE insulation, UL94-V0 flame class and IP68 sealing cover the connector for -40°C to +85°C outdoor service.

How a Solar Fuse Connector Protects a String

1. The connector carries the string current

Under normal operation, the fuse element passes the string current with contact resistance under 5mΩ, so losses stay low.

2. The fault raises the current

A reverse string fault or short circuit drives the current above the fuse rating.

3. The fuse opens the circuit

The fuse element interrupts the current at the connector, protecting the cables, module and downstream equipment.

Fuse rating must be matched to the string design — it is a system decision, not a connector feature.
